Learning unit contents

  • Presentation of the main current challenges in sustainable development
  • Environmental communication (Eco-labels)
  • Life cycle analysis
  • Review of scientific literature in the field of environmental assessment of food products

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Understand the principles of existing sustainability assessment and be introduced to their practical applications.

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:

  • Understand and initiate an environmental assessment.
  • Understand and discuss the different types of environmental labels.
  • Discuss a life cycle analysis.

  • Presentations,
    Guide on the use of environmental assessment tools,
    Group work on environmental labels,
    Individual work on the critique of an environmental assessment of a food product.
