Practice of the Spanish language training both in its written and spoken form: how to produce a consistent train of thoughts based on a methodical structuring of ideas/arguments, as well as the use of logical links. Teaching of the vocabulary required to achieve this goal.

Students will prepare documents (summarise, paraphrase, understand new vocabulalary, answer questions,...) at home. Claases will be the opportunity to share student's answers and to compare different points of view, leading to a discussion on the given theme.

In class oral presentation (20 %): any topic
First session
Written exam (40%): a. 500-word essay on any one topic dealt with in class ; b. test on the inclass content, i.e the vocabulary (see vocabulary list at te end of the syllabus).
Oral exam (40%): questions about reading a required book (required reading) and the topics in class oral presentation. The student will be asked to get his/her thoughts organized by using logical links as learned in class, as well as a fluent and structured Spanish language.

This teaching unit ("Unité d'enseignement," or UE) is subject to the principle of the "note absorbante," which means that the student having obtained a mark below 8/20 for one of the learning activities ("activités d'apprentissage," or AA) will receive a failing grade for the entire unit and will have to retake the failed AA in the second session regardless of the mathematical average of the two AA grades.
