Description of the teaching unit:
This course is designed to help the student define a dissertation project.
Table of contents:


  • The different types of dissertation (including action research);
  • The state of the art - Introduction to documentary research;
  • Defining a problematic and a research question;
  • Methodological aspects
  • Defining a plan;
  • Practice: Drafting the dissertation project.
 
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student will be able...

  • develop a research problem and a research question (or an action project, in the framework of an action research);
  • define the state of the art and show how the question addressed (or the action-research project) is relevant to it;
  • develop a relevant and realistic methodology for addressing the issue (or conducting the project, in the case of action research);
  • define the plan and structure of the master thesis.
 

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Pre-requisite: Block 1 course.

Oral lectures with student note-taking; seminar exchanges; workshops; individual follow-up sessions.

The evaluation of the course will be based on an individual assignment in which the student will detail his/her master thesis project (type of master thesis, problematic and research question/action research project, state of the art, method, plan).
