Learning unit contents
This course consists of 2 parts.
The first part deals with the theoretical underpinnings of staff appraisal, providing a context that is essential for understanding the approach, but also for practical intervention.
The second part asks students to take part in a field study on appraisal process. Each student will conduct one or more individual interviews with managers and/or workers, which they will have prepared in advance. They will then transcribe and analyse these interviews. The students will also take part in group discussion sessions with their peers about the data collected.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
- Understand the current context and challenges of staff appraisal practices within companies.
- Based on theoretical concepts and practical observations in connection with the individual interviews conducted, develop a critical approach to the various practices and observations made.
- Gain an understanding of specific company issues through participation in a field study.
- Developing research skills: conducting an interview using a prepared interview guide, transcribing, analysing and summarising data, exchanging ideas with peers, gain perspective on data relating to a specific theme.
