Learning unit contents
- Elementary functions : polynomials, logarithms, exponentials;
- Calculus (one variable) : concepts of limit, continuity, derivative;
- Financial Mathematics : Simple interest, compound interest, annuities and sinking funds, loans.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
According to the ILO's (prerequisite of the program), the student will globally learn to use mathematical tools to solve management problems.
Particularly, the main objectives are:
- learning of rigor in mathematics;
- applying mathematics in management;
- solving concrete problems;
- using and applying mathematical models.
The target competences are:
- analyzing scientifically situations,
- solving problems,
- modelizing,
- arguing,
- communicating.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Elementary algebra : fractions, powers, operations priority, proper use of parentheses; first and second degree functions and their graphs.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Each notion of the contents is illustrated by exercises.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
- Face-to-face lectures.
- Practice sessions.
- Possibility to attend "questions-and-answers" sessions weekly.

Further information:
Written exam including a theoretical part without any course notes and a practical part with a summary of the course. The summary of the course must be written handwritten by the student, is a personal document, and is of at most 6 pages (3 two-sided sheets).
A non graphical and non-programmable calculator can be used during the examinations. Any use of another type of calculator is considered as cheating.
