Learning unit contents

Training in argumentation, both written and oral: development of a coherent thread, focused on a methodical structuring of ideas/arguments and the use of logical links. Also, training in critical analysis of others' arguments.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

- Ability to understand, analyze and discuss texts written in Spanish on major current affairs and social issues.
- Ability to identify issues and implications of the subjects covered.
- Ability to articulate thought using a range of (para)linguistic means.
- Ability to construct logically sound arguments.
- Ability to identify and avoid logical fallacies.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Good knowledge of the Spanish language.

Performance in class, including texts written during the semester and critical analyses: 50% of the final grade

Oral final exam: 50% of the final grade

The evaluation will focus on the successful construction of arguments and the correct and effective use of (para)linguistic means.
