Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Concepts of soil landscape analysis and biogeochemical soil functioning at landscape scale.

Advanced geostatistical methods

Integrated exercise based on a real-life case study in Belgium or abroad: students, working as consultants, carring out a campaign of field observations and measurements to answer a land-use planning question on the scale of a small natural region. A diagnosis will be drawn up in the form of a soil-landscape analysis (mapping) and a written a report presnting managment plan.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

Understand and prioritize soil influencing factors at the landscape scale according to the case study;

Design a field sampling methodology to assess soil characteristics and functioning within agro-ecosystems;

Make an integrated diagnosis of soil and land units and propose appropriate management solutions;

Work as a team in a consultancy office
