Learning unit contents

Themes, methodological approaches or concepts treated can vary as a function of the selected study sites, or as a function of educational or scientific opportunities or constraints.

The project aims to stimulate students to take initiatives and to reinforce their capacities to work in groups or individually; moreover, it is developed to offer opportunities to the students to apply and integrate the theoretical concepts of their courses.

The central theme of this project is TO ECOSYSTEM.

An articulation with the course de "lecture plurielle" is planned.

 


 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Students know how to integrate different methods and types of information concerning landscape analysis from the viewpoint of landscape perception, morphology and socio-economic profile (generalist notion).

To this end, students are able to perceive and analyze landscapes using a structured, objective methodology. Students mobilize one or more theoretical frameworks to build their methodologies.

Students are able to work in groups and formulate development options for a particular site. Students are able to take initiative in gathering information for a particular site, interpreting different types of information, and applying new or taught methods. Students understand the differences between rural and urban environments and know how to express them.

Students are able to formulate strategic and operational objectives based on a previously established diagnosis, and translate them graphically (schematics, masterplans, diagrams, etc.). They organize the options in a draft landscape management plan (timeframe, priorities, etc.).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Introduction to the workshop/project by the owners (field visit). Work is carried out in groups or individually, depending on the desired output. The main activities concern the collection, integration and interpretation of different types of (spatial) information with a view to interpreting these (meta)data. The autonomy of groups and students is stimulated. Activities may change according to pedagogical, logistical or scientific constraints or opportunities.

Additional information:

Autonomous work (by groupe or individually) supervised during the weekly sessions(studio). One session of studio every week, an entire day.

Additional information:

Every production is graded by a competent jury (ad hoc composition). Evaluation criteria and evaluation procedures are communicated beforehand by the supervisors. The eventual organization of a second session is actually not yet foreseen. Final jury at the end of the quadrimester.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course

Weekly sessions (studio). 1 day/week. The presence of the students is necessary for the educational strategy.
