Practical work in sub-groups: application in the field

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

  • Assimilation of concepts associated with accompaying the agroecological transition
  • Appropriation of the general approach to support the agroecological transition
  • Appropriation of specific tools for establishing agro-ecological diagnostics and for co-constructing scenarios
  • Developing reflexive skills, changing posture, getting away from certainties and learning to navigate ambiguity

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Be acquainted with the basic concepts and principles of agroecology: its definitions, rationale and associated theoretical concepts.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

There are two types of learning activities:

  • Theoretical learning activities. These are always combined with a participative element: reading beforehand, hands-on exercices with tools, flipped classes, etc.
  • Group application activities. In sub-groups, students are attributed to real-cases to apply the concepts and tools learned in class to case studies in the field.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Blended learning

Further information:

As the theoretical part of the course is mainly participative, it is given exclusively face-to-face. Attendance at theory classes is compulsory and graded (10% of the total mark). Absences must be justified by a medical certificate.

The practical part (group work on real cases) is carried out independently. Time slots are set aside in the timetable for this purpose, but there is no requirement for attendance, as the group organises itself as it wishes. The teacher is available during these slots (or outside if necessary) upon appointment.
