Learning unit contents
The course provides a survey of the main trends in film analysis from the 1960s until the present day, through various approaches (semiology, narratology, psychoanalysis, aesthetics, history of art, anthropology, sociology, ideology, etc.). Various notions will emerge from detailed analyses of films (mainly contemporary Hollywood films).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Film analysis being the common practice of all those who intend to work in the field of cinema the point of this course is to provide a theoretical and methodological framework as well as necessary conceptual tools.The course also gives important historic and esthetic references to the Hollywood cinema.

None.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course, very illustrated, requires the active participation of the students. The students are also invited to view and to analyze by themselves a series of films. Students must hand in a written file by the end of the year.
