Learning unit contents
Internship is minimum 4 weeks long in a company or administration with activities linked to civil engineering studies.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Internship is primarily intended to train the student to the application, in companies, administration or research center, of the knowledge and experience gained during his/her studies. The internship is an essential complement to the technical and social education of the student.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Sufficeint technical skills about conception, design, building and management of civil engineering structures and infrastructures as well as buildings
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Observing and reporting way of life of a company (or administrative structure) and people relationships - Application of calculation, design and analysis methods.

Further information:
Report (30%) : within 4 weeks after the end of the internship, the student has to provide a report with the following content:
* A integrated summary of maximum 3 pages (without illustrations, free lay-out) including:
1: A brief presentation of the company
2: The role of the student in the company during the internship
3: A detailed answer to the three objectives of the internship
* A portfolio: Collection of documents, free lay-out
= appendix to the integrated summary
= Traces of the achievements of the student during the internship
= Illustrated (shedules, sketches, drawing, design notes, minutes of meeting, technical notes, pictures of job sites, folders for presenting projects or companies, ...)
The report will be delivered to the academic supervisor.
Oral presentation (40%)
The oral presentation of the report will occur in front of the internship jury. All teh students are invited to attend the presenations. A session will take place in May, antother one in September.
Evaluation by the industrial tutor (30%)
After the internship, the industrial tutor is invited to give his/her appreciation about the internship and the student using the « Formulaire d'Evaluation du Stagiaire » form. The form will be send to teh industrial tutor by the academic upervisor at the beginning of teh internship.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
Internship can be done by :
- a student with the internship listed in his/her PAE
- a student in the penultimate year of study, i.e. who is in the situation where he/she will have Master Thesis listed in his/her PAE for the next academic year and/or who will be in a position to obtain all his/her missing credits during the following year.
An internship agreement has to be signed BEFORE the start of the internship by the student, a representative of the company where the internship will take place and the academic supervisor of the internships. A risk analysis evaluation has also to be filled by the company.
