Learning unit contents

1. Issues in teaching the ancient languages. Tips for teaching of Latin and reading texts in the classroom. 2. Critical analysis of the curricula. 3. Review of Textbooks. 4. Concepts: skills, problem-based learning (esp. the question of defining guidelines). Evaluation criteria: evaluation grid for Latin versions and skills of family tasks III. Specific methods of teaching in the first-degree of secondary schools. Different methods for reading texts.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The goal of the course is that students can
- create learning sequences adapted to the level of the learners;
- design a one-year study plan consistent with curriculum;
- create and use evaluation grids skills (families of tasks I and III);
- imagine problems that develop the skills of Family II tasks, formulating the guidelines properly;
- choose wisely a handbook suitable for their teaching and use it properly;
- use appropriate pedagogy for beginning students, and include specific objectives in the first degree in secondary education.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic knowledge of French.

Lecture. Exercises in small groups. Individual oral presentations by students.

The course will be held for selected periods of one or two hours in both the first half and the second half.
During periods of training, the course will be suspended and replaced by moments of "reflective practice".

Additional information:

Oral test concerning three written assignments. An accurate description with the evaluation criteria is given to students during the course.
