Learning unit contents

MODULE 1: Reflective practice at the heart of clinical training
This first module defines the characteristics and objectives of supervised practice. In particular, it introduces the rules of supervision, boundaries, beneficiaries of supervision, expectations and relationships. Next, the module introduces a method that facilitates reflexive work in supervised practice: reflective analysis. To be reflexive is to be fully engaged in the therapeutic relationship while taking a step back inward to notice what is going on for the patient, oneself, the relationship and its connection to a larger systemic context.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

  • Understanding the role of the practicum supervisor in remedial education and clinical psychology;
  • Implementing the framework for supervised practice
  • Implementing reflective analysis in the work with remedial educators and clinical psychologists for whom they are practicum supervisors.
