Learning unit contents
The course aims to place some contemporary realities of work in a historical perspective, and to initiate the students in the practice of historical research, which can help them both for future research activities and for writing reports in their future professional environment.
The course is made up of two parts.
After a brief reminder of the characteristics of the historical process and the contribution it can make to students and researchers in the social sciences, the first part of the course begins with an introduction to the issue which will be examined, in the field of occupational health and safety history.
The second part of the course takes the form of a condensed historical seminar where the students are called upon to deal with a precise point relating to a historical question, using different kinds of sources. Archival documentation relevant to the seminar is made available to students, usually in digital form.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
By the end of the course, students will be able to better understand some aspects of the today working life, putted back in their historical context.
