- Psychosocial approach to the treatment (prevention and management) of conflict situations.
- Reminder of the conflict theory (definition, types, levels of analysis, dynamics, ...).
- Differences between mediation/negotiation - arbitration - conciliation.
- Negotiation on positions versus interests.
- Communication and promotion of relational quality (assertiveness; empathy; non-violent communication; conducting meetings and interviews; emotional skills; creativity; ... + practical exercises).
- Focus on the posture of the mediator, skills, behaviours & tools).
- Conflict prevention/treatment within work teams.
- Testimonials from conflict prevention/management professionals.
- Prevention of Psycho-Social Risks at work.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- analyze, using the concepts, theories and tools presented in the course, the complexity of a given conflict situation encountered in private or professional life.
- analyze, using the concepts, theories and tools presented in the course, the relevance of a chosen strategy to deal with a given conflict situation.
- propose and justify an appropriate strategy for dealing with a given conflict situation.
- implement the methods and techniques learned.
- critically examine one's own functioning, as well as the functioning of the group, within a work team, with a view to promoting relational quality.

- 40% of the final score: group works during the Q2 ;
- 30% of the final grade: individual reflective report based on the group experience, related to the theme of managing conflict situations;
- 30% of the final grade: individual written exam on applied knowledge of the course (!!! minimum 8/20 to pass the course).
