Learning unit contents
A series of presentations by oceanographers working at the University of Liege will be attended by the students. These presentations will describe a recent research project, addressing both their scientific relevance and the practical aspects of searching and applying for funding. Theoretical introductions on how to write a scientific paper and a scientific proposal will be also covered in this course.

Opening to different disciplines of marine science. How to write a scientific paper. How to write and justify a scientific proposal. How to communicate to non-specialists
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Good backgroung in general oceanography.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The lessons will consist of a series of theoretical units about the structure of a scientific paper and proposal, and a series of presentations made by oceanographers working at the University of Liege.

The most relevant scientific papers will be identified during the preparatory sessions and they must be read and analysed by the students.

Additional information:
The students will prepare a written report and an oral presentation of a given topic, and defend it orally in front of the class. Critical assessment of each proposal by the students will be also judged.
