Learning unit contents
The course is intended for occupational health physicians who have an advisory and educational role as regard health matters in enterprises.
It involves four parts :
- Basic concepts: prevention, public health, health education, health promotion
- Models of behaviour changes
- Planification of health education programmes using a structured approach, the Precede-Proceed model
- Critical analysis of intervention programmes in work settings
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The course aims at giving the physician :
- an understanding of the basic concepts underlying health promotion at work
- an understanding of the main models of behavioural change
- a methodology to conduct a needs assessment in the enterprise
- a framework to design and implement an health education programme in a work setting

Evaluation involves :
- the critical reading of a scientific paper dealing with a public health intervention in a work setting
- an oral discussion (20 min) with the teacher underlining the paper main features and pointing out the concepts and/or models used by the authors to develop their program.
