Bibliographic research
The course is given in 6 sessions that combine theoretical aspects and tutorials and develops the following parts:
-Bibliographic research :
- Presentation of the main bibliographic search engines
- Influence of keyword selection strategy on documents found
- Different forms of media:
- Differences in content and structure between scientific/technical reports, dissertations, theses, scientific articles and books.
- What editorial requirements are expected depending on the type of document.
-Writing a scientific document
- How to adapt the content of the document to the target audience and the context of the study? Special features of a dissertation
- How to set the context of the study in an introduction, write up the material and methods, the results, and show the contributions of the study in a discussion.
- How to refer to authors in the text. How to write a bibliographical list.
- What is plagiarism? How to avoid it?
- Oral presentation:
- How to orally present the results of your dissertation or scientific work, principles and recommendations.
- Tutorial :
- Choosing key words for your dissertation topic
- Listing of relevant articles or scientific documents related to the dissertation topic
- Structuring the theoretical part of the brief and the objectives and/or hypotheses
- Discussions and exercises in small working groups
- The work to be carried out is directly related to the dissertation topic, in order to enhance the value of the course.

Bibliographic research
Students will be able to carry out bibliographical research adapted to their research problem. They will be able to write their final thesis in an appropriate manner. Finally, they will have all the tools they need to present their research results orally.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is given in the first four months, in 6 face-to-face sessions with compulsory attendance. The course will be given in the form of tutorials, preceded by a short theoretical introduction, during which students will apply the theory to make progress on their final dissertation. MOOCs will be used (as individual preparatory work at home) to learn how to do bibliographical research. The sessions will be supervised by the 2 teachers. Seminars to present their bibliographical research will close the training module.
