Job opportunities

Chemistry, innovative materials (polymers, ceramics, glass, metals, etc.), the environment (treatment and recovery of effluents and waste), biotechnologies, pharmaceuticals and energy (conversion and storage systems for all forms of energy, from renewable to fossil fuels, including nuclear) are the industrial sectors favored by chemical and materials science engineers. These are fields of the future, where research and development activities are important and technologies are constantly being renewed.

The number of jobs filled is very high and constantly increasing.

The number of jobs in the chemical, pharmaceutical/biotechnology and plastics industry (20% of industrial jobs) has been increasing in Belgium for 7 consecutive years: +7300 jobs created[1]. The range of careers is very wide: design of industrial equipment and installations, operation and management of production units, consultancy in quality management and the environment, and, increasingly, research and development work. The high level of qualification of ULiège graduates in chemistry and materials science makes them very attractive to employers. As a proof, in the last few years, more than 90% of the graduates have obtained a job less than 6 months after their graduation.
