Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Toxicologie expérimentale et évaluation des risques chez l'homme
1. Local or systemic effects of chemical products
2. Experimental toxicology testing in cosmetology
3. Experimental and clinical toxicology for cosmetic products with endocrine disrupting propoerties
Evaluation des risques pour les écosystèmes
The objective of the course is to present the notions of ecotoxicology and quantification of the environmental risk posed by chemicals necessary for the assessment of the risks posed by chemicals, including cosmetics, on organisms and ecosystems.
The material covered is divided into the following chapters:
- presentation of the main classes of "cosmetic" type pollutants and impacts on organisms/ecosystems
- fate of chemicals in the environment
- Tools for assessing the effects of chemical compounds on organisms and ecosystems
- Quantitative assessment of environmental risks related to chemical substances (according to EU regulations)
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Toxicologie expérimentale et évaluation des risques chez l'homme
To be aware of potential side effects (especially systemic side effects) of chemical products used in cosmetology
Evaluation des risques pour les écosystèmes
At the end of this teaching unit, the student will be able to:
- imagine the most problematic categories of cosmetic products for organisms/ecosystems and the type of effects of these products,
- estimate target compartments of various chemical compound profiles,
- explain and choose among the different tools (types of tests) available to assess the dangerousness of a given product with regard to organisms/ecosystems.
- explain and carry out the quantitative assessment of the environmental risk related to chemical compounds (including decision-making to authorize/prohibit a product according to the EU procedure)
