Learning unit contents
This course exposes the students to current questions in astrophysics, geophysics, oceanography and space technologies through the attendance of the seminars and conferences presented in the AGO department. Besides these, virtual seminars may also be organised.

A better understanding and a critical outlook on contemporary research.

None. The student will have to evaluate which seminars correspond best to his/her interests.

Attendance to the seminars and discussions with the speaker.

The students will attend at least 10 seminars during the academic year. The list of the past and future seminars is available on the web server of the AGO department.

Attending 10 seminars will give 5 points to the mark.
For 5 seminars amongst those attended, we ask a critical report in the language of the seminar. This report will have to be given or e-mailed (in pdf) to the 5 organisers at the latest one week after the seminar. Each report will be graded and will be worth 2 points.
Report format: A template is provided in the online notes. The length of the report should be between 6500 and 7500 characters, including spaces. An additional page may be used for figures and references. Students are encouraged to use spell and grammar checkers, such as Grammarly or LanguageTools before submitting their work.
The examination will consist of a 15-minute mini-seminar, in English, worth 5 points. This mini-seminar will be based on a recent research paper (< 2 years) in astrophysics, geophysics or oceanology, which must be approved by one of the teachers two weeks before the beginning of the examination session.
For the second session, 5 reports will have to be reworked, together with an additional mini-seminar.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
A meeting will be organized with the staff members in charge of the course on the first Thursday after the start of courses, at 4 p.m.
