Learning unit contents
- Description of the immune response against tumors and the tumor escape mechanisms (continuation ofcontinuation of of "Advances in Immunology" classes)
- Description of the immunotherapeutic strategies against cancer
- From bench to clinic: description of the development process and the major techniques
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The main goal is to acquire a working knowledge of the various cellular mechanisms underlying antitumor immunity, the cellular interactions between the immune system and tumor cells and to understand novel immunotherapeutic strategies against cancer, in order to be able to understand, interpret and criticize scientific literature and scientific hypotheses related to the topic.
Thanks to the course, the student will acquire the basic knowledge and the tools to work in fundamental research or in the industry in the field of tumor immunology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course will be divided into three parts:
- Face-to-face lectures on tumour immunology and immunotherapy
- Interactive seminars with presentation of an immunotherapy strategy previously presented by students followed by group discussion.
- Ineractive group class on an immunotherapy strategy
