Learning unit contents

Qualitative research aims to access the subjective dimension of human experience in order to better understand what motivates people and how they give meaning to their actions.

Lessons aim to give an overview of qualitative research and its diversity of epistemological referents, methods and approaches (phenomenology, grounded theory, narrative approach, etc.). The aim is to identify the reasons for using qualitative methods, to master their theoretical frameworks and to practice techniques for collecting and analyzing information.

  • Placing qualitative research within an epistemological framework and the history of psychology
  • Problematizing a research project
  • Knowing the different methods and approaches in qualitative research
  • Designing an interview guide
  • Mobilizing research interview approaches and techniques
  • Considering the ethical issues involved in qualitative research
  • Communicating the results of a qualitative study

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Lessons require a very good level of the French language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lessons alternate theoretical input with practical workshops.
