Learning unit contents

Based on clinical scenarios, several physiological and pathological conditions are discussed that psychologists or speech therapists can see in some patients. The main phases of somatic development are presented from birth to adulthood. Among the disorders : consequences of prematurity, cerebral palsy, child abuse or neglect, precocious or delayed puberty, exploratory behaviors at adolescence, chronic diseases and eating disorders

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To understand somatic and medical issues to development of normal child or the child suffering from different diseases in order to integrate those aspects in the management of such children or patients when seen in consultation, in collaboration with other health care professionnals.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Ten lessons of 3 hours with each based on the following sequence: a scenario related to the topic of the lesson is analysed by tjhe students in small groups, the students comments and questions are collected at the board and discussed; the underlying information and concepts are illustrated through an interactive lecture. Finally, the learning objectives are given. Lessons will be given on site and recorded/podcasted

Additional information:

Written exam including multiple choice questions based on the theoretical concepts seen in class and open short questions based on clinical situations comparable to those analysed in class.
