Internship

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

By participating in laboratory, studies on archaeological sites, building heritage or museums, the student will practice using methods taught in archaeometry. It will develop a critical and well-argued attitude towards the questions asked, the methods used, their execution and the role of stakeholders.

The internship will take place in a research institute, on a site or in a museum, in Belgium or abroad. Students are encouraged to choose a different place of internship from their usual work environment in order to open the field of study.

Additional information:

Three weeks minimum, the duration of the internship being agreed in agreement with the instructor. The internship can be fragmented into several periods throughout the academic year depending on the programming of the research activities.

Proposals for internships and supervision will be sent to the coordinator of the teaching unit by 15 December. The proposal will be discussed with the coordinator. The proposals will be considered by the master's jury in HAA, archaeometry orientation. In the absence of a response before 15 January, the proposals will be considered as accepted.

The internship may begin once the internship agreement has been signed by all parties and addressed to the coordinator (by email). An internship agreement model is available from the coordinator and on e-campus.

Additional information:

  • a report written will be given to the coordinator.
  • the supervisor of the intership will be invited to give an appreciation that will come under consideration for the evaluation.
  • all works and documents will be presented in French or English.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course

The internship agreement must be signed by the student and the representatives of the institutions before the beginning of the activities.

At the end of the internship, the student will notify the coordinator so that the coordinator can contact the internship supervisor for evaluation.

Receipt of the report must be confirmed by the coordinator. A copy of the report will be sent to the host institution.
