Learning unit contents
Semiconductor physics fundamentals. Electronic devices : pn junction, bipolar transistor, field-effect transistor. Circuit analysis, transfer function, frequency response. Operational amplifier et basic circuits. Introduction to digital electronics : numbers, logic gates, boolean algebra, combinatory logic circuit design, sequential circuits. Converters. Introduction to instrumentation.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This course will allow the student to get introduced to the basics of device physics. The student will be trained in the analysis of applications in analog electronics and digital electronics, in the perspective of instrumentation for physics.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basics of electromagnetism.
Introduction to modern physics.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and lab sessions (mounting and analysis of analog and digital circuits). Group project as a part of lab assignments.

A written examination (50%) on the content of the lectures, including a few problems. An oral examination (50%) on the lab sessions.
A group project carried out during the semester composes a part of the grade (evaluated during the lab exam).
