Learning unit contents
The course is part of the annual research seminar in phenomenological philosophy organized at ULiège since 2007. In 2024-2025, the 18th edition of the seminar will focus on current phenomenological research devoted to Sartre and the existentialist phenomenologies ("phénoménologies existentialistes", F. Caeymaex) of Beauvoir, Merleau-Ponty and Fanon.
Particular emphasis will be placed on 3 thematic axes.
In fundamental philosophy: rereading Sartre's theories of imagination and emotions and their critical appropriations in the history of phenomenology?
In social philosophy: exploration of Sartre's theory of ideology.
In clinical philosophy: mapping the place of Sartrean thought and existentialism in the constitution and in contemporary reappropriations of institutional psychotherapy and antipsychiatry.
In a transversal way, the seminar will, on the one hand, pay great attention to the studies of existentialist phenomenologists in constellation, aiming to describe theoretical and intellectual environments. It will, on the other hand, present to students the current projects of existentialist phenomenologies (new areas of research, work on archives and manuscripts, contemporary social and political issues).
Persons in charge for 2024-2025 : Grégory Cormann, Chiara Collamati, Jérôme Englebert.
