Learning unit contents

The course has three parts: (1) It examines the different modes of inequality and discrimination, and the ideologies that legitimize them. It also examines the ways in which inequalities of class ("social inequalities"), gender and race ("discriminations") are articulated. (2) It considers the policies put in place to combat them: Social Security and anti-discrimination. (3) It examines the various critical theories that highlight the structural character of discrimination and inequality (Marxism, post-structuralism, post-colonialism, feminism).
