Learning unit contents

By taking advantage of the concerted contribution of various trends and approaches (cognitive psychology, social psychology, systemic approaches, constructivism, gestalt, language anthropology...), this course teaches students how to interpret and understand the diversity within adult learning processes and to envision how to take this diversity into account when developing training strategies and philosophies.

Beside the learning process of individuals, that of organizational systems is also covered.

The concept of learning process is also considered from the point of view of the transformation of individuals and systems.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The goal of the course is to teach students to identify, understand, analyze and utilize the various learning styles of individuals and systems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The provisional programme of sessions (subject to change depending on current events and student progress) includes a number of themes.

+ Practical applications of media observation (novels, videos, etc.) and a 'mock' examination session to familiarise students with the assessment method.

In addition to the course, 6 projects will be presented by students taking part in an international training course on the human dimensions of sustainable development projects. These participants come from a country in the southern hemisphere and have in common that they run projects that aim to improve the environment, which implies in particular that they lead actions of change and learning, two key themes of the course.

Throughout the course, the six projects will be presented, and students will be invited to comment on them in relation to the course. Video clips presented by the students themselves will also be available.

NB: these projects are different from those presented during the practical questions on conducting a training course.

The course is given in the first term, on Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12pm.

The premises are not equipped for podcasts. However, the course sessions could be recorded (teacher's computer in charge) and made available in the days following the face-to-face course dates. Attendance is strongly recommended in order to take part in the discussions and interactions with the group.
