Learning unit contents

This course gives through a synthetic approach of the aquaculture production. It is dived in 3 chapters:

- 1. Introduction :  Fisharies and aquaculture status. Self-learning

- 2. Reproduction et larval rearing

-3. Nutrition, feeding and growth in aquaculture

-4. Genetic improvement

-5. Physiology and stress in aquaculture

-6. Rearing systems

-7. Algaes, molluscs and crustaceans production

-8. Marines fish production

-9. Rethical aspects and welfare.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The student has the bases necessary for the comprehension of the aquaculture problematic.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Biology and chemistry, cellular biology, animal physiology

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The theoretical course (theoretical explanation and discussion) is provided by the teacher and is given in 8 periods of 3 hours. The first course on the status of fisheries and aquaculture is self-study.
