Learning unit contents
This internship is divided into 2 immersive sessions, in a professional environment in the biomedical field, in which the student will dive for 2 days a week (for 5 consecutive weeks in each session). The internship can be executed in a research lab, analysis lab, hospital, data management service, etc.
A panel of labs/services will be presented to you, and you are responsible for getting in touch with the supervisors to determine the location of your internship.
Between the two sessions, an educational trip abroad is organized by and for the students as part of this course, to broaden students' perspectives on how scientific research is conducted in the field. This trip will enable students to visit research laboratories and pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies, exposing them to the international dimension of their education and future careers.
**** MedTech training****
Instead of joining a 'classical' internship, students have the opportunity to engage in a entrepreneurship training (on a voluntary, extremely motivated basis!). It will be organized by professional coaches from WSL.
This training takes place according to the same schedule than other internship sessions (2 days a week, for 10 weeks in total).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This internship aims at acquainting the students with the professional world that awaits them, whether they will engage into experimental/clinical research, data management or quality insurance. This internship is an opportunity to dive in real situations, to discover diverse topics and working structures, and to enlarge your vision on all the professional possibilities that are coming.
**** MedTech training ****
This training provides theoretical and practical bases about entrepreneurship. It is an opportunity for the students to concretely develop a business project, which aims at addressing an unmet need in the biomedical field (in collaboration with medical doctors and researchers from the CHU Liège).
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Beyond completing the learning units from the Bachelor cycle, the student should present prerequisite skills : to show motivation, curiosity, willingness to integrate a working structure and to gain insight in how this structure is functioning.

Continuous assessment
Further information:
Both sessions will be evaluated based on a scoring grid provided to the promoter/supervisor of the internship. This grid will evaluate how the student has fulfilled the various activities (see list above), as well as the general behavior (punctuality, integration in a team, motivation, etc). The same grid will be provided to the student for self-evaluation.

The working groups will present their project in front of a jury composed of local experts. If successful, they will present in front of a jury at the regional level.
