Learning unit contents

This year, the course will be dedicated to a semiological and transmedia approach (literary, audiovisual, video-game works, etc.) to the notion of gender and the theories dealing with the generic classification of cultural objects.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Introduce the reader to theoretical problems relating to the classification of cultural works and develop a reflective approach to these theories and their subject matter.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

None other than an in-depth knowledge of the French language.

Active face-to-face seminar. Unless otherwise stated during the year, every Friday from 9 to 11 am.

Course materials and recommended or required readings

A reading programme will be proposed in the course of the year.

Written work / report


Additional information:

The student submits an original piece of writing on a theme covered in the course. This work must demonstrate mastery of the subject matter and provide a critical or reflective viewpoint on a semiological problem. The judicious use of unseen theories or original objects is particularly valued. The teacher may be asked to give an opinion on the validity or originality of the subject.

The work must be submitted in Word and PDF format by the first day of the session at the latest, by email to both teachers.
