Learning unit contents
This course covers the protective, sanitary, disinfection and sterilization measures that are specific to speech therapy practice. Different modes of microorganism transmission will be presented. Then the class will foster the development of reflexivity concerning measures to be implemented by both therapists and patients to avoid cross-transmission, depending on:
- the type of speech therapy treatment,
- the equipment used,
- the patient's profile,
- the context,
- the location where treatment is provided.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of this teaching unit, students should be able to:
- Be familiar with and understand modes of microorganism transmission,
- Be familiar with and apply protective, sanitary, disinfection and sterilization measures used in speech therapy to prevent cross-transmission,
- Identify the protective, sanitary, disinfection and sterilization measures to apply depending on the speech therapy action, the equipment used, the patient's profile and the context.
