Learning unit contents

The course is made up of 4 different parts:

1/ Full-English course

2/ Weekly speaking activities

3/ MT presentation OR Internship Interview (presentation & interaction)

4/ Continuous assessment (vocabulary tests)

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, for interaction the student will reach the Level B2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages within his or her field of specialty, as well as the level C1 for oral presentation skills.

This course develops and assesses (certificative assessment) the competence 4.3.4 "Présenter en anglais un sujet complexe dans des termes adaptés au public visé."

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The student has to have a B2+ level (cf. CEFR) before starting the course.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

One full-English course

Weekly speaking: 1h/week during the first semester 

- Presentations related to the topics of the MT/internship followed by a discussion

- Pronunciation exercises

- Job interview exercises

Online modules with theory and exerices 

Coaching sessions by student assistants

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

The weighing will be spread as follows:

- Internship/ MT + interaction : 40%

- Debate: 30%

- Full-English course : 10%

- Vocabulary tests: 20%

For students that do not have the FE course on their program, it will be calculated as follows:

- Internship/MT + interaction : 50%

- Debate: 30%

- Vocabulary tests: 20%

For Erasmus students Q1:

- January interaction : 50%

- June MT/internship + interaction : 50%

For Erasmus students Q2:

- Regular weighing

 
Students that are absent for the tests will get a 0 for the test. 

Students absent for the exam (January or June) will be marked A for the final grade. 

Students signing the exam (January or June) will receive a 0 for the final grade.

If a student signs the evaluation linked to the full-English course, his/her final grade will be calculated based the weighing for students that do not have any FE course on their Curriculum. 

Exemptions, even partial, will not be granted.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course

A student who leaves for one term/semester/year has to contact the Engilsh teachers before leaving. Certain adaptations can be put in place provided that the exchange/trip is officially supervised by the faculty.
