Learning unit contents
The course is divided in two parts: theory and practical training. To start with, students will analyse speeches to identify units of meaning, main ideas and links. Pratical exercices (A langage into A, then C into A). Memory exercise, mindmapping, note-taking, reformulation, voice management, communication.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
By the end of this course, students will be able to translate a 6 to 10-min speech in consecutive from English into French.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
French as mother tongue Listening to the BBC (podcast, World Service or any other English-speaking broadcast ...). Highly recommended from 3 to 4 times a week. Listening to French radio programmes (France Inter or equivalent) Reading the newspapers everyday in French and English (1 article at least same topic)

Consecutive exercices based but not only on speeches or adapted readings, video and podcasts. Public speaking exercices under pressure or not. Shadowing

Oral examination. Criteria : the student's perfromance will be assessed on its consistency, clarity and its faithfulness to the original. Communication will also be assessed as well as linguistic skills, general knowledge and news-related knowledge
