Learning unit contents
The topics covered will be of a general nature and will aim to improve the ability to express oneself fluently in German while remaining faithful to the source text.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The aim of the consecutive interpreting course taught in MA1 is to teach students to improve their ability to memorise, analyse and reproduce general and topical texts and speeches in the foreign language. The focus will be on adequate and fluent expression in German, mastery of grammar and communication skills.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Good speech and grammar competences in German, active notetaking competences.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
First reproduce speeches DE-DE and later on consecutive interpreting from FR into DE, writing short thematic speeches in the foreign language (structure of a speech + expression), terminology exercises, discussions on current affairs and familiarisation with the culture of German-speaking countries.

As a general rule, courses will be given face-to-face and, in exceptional cases, remotely.

Curiosity is a prerequisite. An interpreting student needs to be interested in everything: reading newspapers, listening to podcasts, the news on TV, etc. are essential.

Additional information:
The performance will be assessed on the basis of a faithful renditioninto German of a speech given in French, mastery of DE (grammar, fluency, terminology), analysis of the source text and professional communication/presentation. We will also check whether the students have assimilated the subjects covered during the year and kept up to date with current events. We will also be looking at the student's resistance to stress and their past and potential development.
