Learning unit contents
Further training of the simultaneous interpretation from Dutch into French with texts,exercises and video speeches (mainly), given by native speakers.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
By the end of the academic year, the student will be able to listen to a structured Dutch intervention of about 12 to 16 minutes and will render the information in a comprehensive and synthesised way, into appropriate and grammatically perfect French, in simultaneous interpretation. No misinterpretation will be accepted.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
A very good passive knowledge of the Dutch language and a perfect command of French.
The ability to summarise and synthesise information.
A natural curiosity about everything. A good knowledge of the topical issues of the EU and of the countries where the language is spoken.
The student will be stress-resilient.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Interpreting of structured and complex video interviews/speeches /testimonies (in Dutch) on various topical issues ; rendering of the information in clear, neat, accurate and correct French.

Courses organized in a classroom by and with the teacher. Courses can be given remotely.
Course materials and recommended or required readings
Read regularly the newspapers and news magazines in Dutchand in French. Listen to podcasts and watch vodcasts and TV programs as diversified as possible in Dutch and in French.

Additional information:
The grade will be determined by the result of the final exam. This exam will take place in front of an examining panel chaired by the module leader and composed of ULg interpreter-trainers, as well as external professional interpreters. The module leader will have the final say in case of divergence of opinions between the members of the panel.
Work placement(s)
The student might have the opportunity to go to a real meeting with their Professor. However there is no guarantee as this will depend on the client, the kind of meeting (confidential or not), the language combination and the availability of an empty booth.
Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
Read regularly the newspapers and news magazines and listen to the radio in Dutch and in French.
