This course will present the main principles of immunopathology which must be known by all future health professionals: it will thus approach the classical general concepts of autoimmune pathology, hypersensitivity reaction, anti-infectious immunity and immune deficiency.
It will also emphasize three points of particular importance in the current daily practice of future health practitioners: the concepts of vaccination (including vaccinations against Covid), immunosuppressive drugs (selective or non-selective, whose use is increasingly wide) and the aging of the immune system (parallel to the aging of the population, through the concept of immuno-senescence).
It is also important that the course is relevant to the practice of future dentists. First of all, the oral cavity presents immunological particularities compared to other organs: the course will have to begin, by taking advantage of a brief recall of general immunology, by the presentation of the immunological particularities of the various tissues, like the periodontium or the osseous niches (through the concept of osteo-immunology). The exemplary pathologies that will illustrate the concepts of the course will be chosen among pathologies involving the dental sphere. For example, reactions to amalgam or local anaesthetics will illustrate the course on hypersensitivities and rheumatoid arthritis, whose trigger is the citrullination of certain proteins in the periodontium, will illustrate the course on autoimmune pathologies.

Written evaluation (QCM - QROC) and written work to be submitted.
The written exam will consist of QCM (multiple choice questions, choice of a single answer from several solutions, without certainty coefficient) and two QROCs (short open answer questions). The questions will focus on the concepts detailed in the educational objectives and present on the slides described during the course. The written exam will account for 60% of the evaluation for the year.
Written work (by group or individual depending on the number of students registered for the course) will also be carried out during the year. The instructions are described in the educational objectives. The instructions will be explained during the first lesson, and the work must be submitted during the year. The work will account for 40% of the evaluation of the year.
