General introduction: Water-Air-Soil legislative frameworks
Protection of soil resources:
- Threats to soils: the European framework and the main threats
- Soil erosion: issues, management solutions.
- Loss of OM
- Artificialization
- Acidification
- Water resources in Wallonia: methods of collection and water quality
- The nitrate directive, the PGDA and the pesticide reduction plan
- Diagnostic tools for the protection of catchments
Integrated exercise on a real case.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the course, students are able to:
- Mobilize legislative tools for the protection of natural resources;
- Design protocols for measuring relevant indicators for monitoring threats to resources;
- Establish a diagnosis and propose appropriate solutions for a case study
