Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Elastic methods of structural analysis : Introduction - Basic theorems - Flexibility method (classical) - Stiffness method (classical, simplified, use of software) - Moment distribution method - Influence lines Plastic global analysis (basic theorems, static and kinematic methods) Worked examples.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This course is particularly dedicated to the analysis of statically undeterminate structures.

Deliver the background of the methods of global analysis and train to the determination of internal forces and displacements in a given structure subjected to a given loading.

The complete list of the KLO for this course is defined in the matrix available at the following address: https://www.programmes.uliege.be/cocoon/20182019/formations/descr/A2UCON01.html

This course contributes to the learning outcomes I.1, I.2, II.1, II.2, II.3, III.1, III.2, III.3, III.4, IV.1, IV.2, IV.3, IV.4, IV.5 of the MSc in civil engineering.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Course on mechnics of materials
FUNDAMENTAL: The student must absolutely master determination of effects of actions in statically determined structures

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

A substantial part of the lectures is devoted to exercises to be solved by the students or worked out by the assistant.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Lectures and exercises are organised alternately. Some marked exercices are organised during the courses, with advance notice to the students.

Course materials and recommended or required readings

Lecture notes are available at "La centrale des cours".
Powerpoint presentations will be available.

Exam(s) in session

Any session

- In-person

written exam ( multiple-choice questionnaire, open-ended questions )

Written work / report

Out-of-session test(s)

Additional information:

20% for a project to be done by groups of two students.
20% for the marked tests made during the year.
60% for the written examination

Organisation de l'examen de janvier :

Questions for the exam 2017-2018
Liste of the questions forthe oral exam.

COmpared to the list used last year, question 9 of the second group has disppeared. The topics that it covered are intergrated within the other questions related to various calculation methods.
