Learning unit contents

The course starts with a general introduction on key economic concepts (including some microéconomics basis). Then the following macroeconomics topics are covered:






  • Introduction: Basic definitions and concepts of microeconomics and macroeconomics.
  • The main economic systems.
  • The major macroeconomic aggregates according to national accounts.
  • Determination of economic activity: basics.
  • Unemployment and inflation.
  • Money, demand for money, money creation.

At the end of the course, the student must be able to:



  • Identify and define economic and macroeconomic concepts
  • Explain and analyze key economic mechanisms
  • Explain and macroeconomic equilibria
  • Interpret the effects of various public policies at both national and international level
  • understand socio-economic news
