Learning unit contents
The "Law and New Technologies" course is a "variable geometry" course: its content is bound to evolve over time according to the technological and legal interests of the moment.
The objective of this course is to give HEC students
- general legal information on important issues in the life of the enterprise: management of personal data, management of the company's creations (intellectual property, copyrights, etc.), issues raised by the use of new technologies;
- to offer an analytical and critical vision of certain legal issues - related to new technologies -;
- to provide an interest in the legal aspects related to innovation in the enterprise.
The organization of the course is likely to vary according to the themes and the speakers selected. However, the overall structure of the course is based on 3 or 4 modules, each dealing with a particular theme.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the following themes will be addressed
- in the course of its business, a company processes various types of data (customer files, supplier files, etc.): what rules must be applied to the management of these files in order to protect the data collected? Examination of the RGPD
- the company is a source of innovation. It will create a new product, packaging, computer programme, etc. How can these creations be protected? The course will provide the keys to protecting intellectual property and copyright.
- Other subjects may also be covered: legal aspects of setting up an online sales site, legal issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence, etc.
