Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Advanced methods in mass spectrometry.
Electrospray ionisation and fragmentation of biomolecules.
Native mass spectrometry - Analysis of macromolecular assemblies.
Hydrogen-deuterium exchanges coupled to mass spectrometry.
Chemical Cross-Linking monitored by mass spectrometry.
Basis of ion mobility.
Imaging by mass spectrometry: Principles and applications.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This course aims to present to the student the main mass spectrometry-based approaches useful in biology, biochemistry or again microbiology thematic.
The theory of each part will be illustrated by recent examples extracted from the literature.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Molecular structures, mainly peptides et proteins.
Notions of mass spectrometry.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Theory.
Exercises illustrating the course.
Visit of the laboratory and discovery of the main instruments.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face-to-face course

Course materials and recommended or required readings

The exam will be divided into three parts:
1- True/False testing: to check the good understanding of the whole teaching.
2- Open questions: to allow a more global expression of the students on the dispensed learning.
3- Case study from the literature.
