Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
This second part of the general chemistry course is devoted to three main topics:
- chemical thermodynamics
- atoms and bonding
- introduction to organic chemistry
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
In addition to the usual "knowledge-based" objectives, the course aims at developping more general skills, such as : analysis of graphics, problem solving, assessment of the validity of a theory,...
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
- General chemistry course (1st year Bachelor)
- Modern physics / partim Quantum physics (1st quadrimester of 2nd year Bachelor)
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, exercice sessions and practical sessions. Attendance to the practical sessions is compulsory. During lab sessions, students are required to wear lab coats and safety glasses.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Face-to-face
Course materials and recommended or required readings
Platform(s) used for course materials:
- eCampus
Further information:
- Lecture notes : a pdf copy of the slides is available. Please note that in order to promote attendance to lectures, some derivations, complements, or examples are not included in the slides.
- Lab and exercise notes will be available on ecampus.
- Lists of equations are provided (one for the exercice sessions/tests, the other for the theory exam).
Exam(s) in session
Any session
- In-person
written exam ( open-ended questions )
Further information:
- assessment of practical sessions : 5 %
- exercise test/exam : 25 %
- theory : 70 %
