Learning unit contents
This course teaches how to design and calculate the following urban networks: water management, public lighting, green networks and roads, according to a holistic and multidisciplinary approach that respects the objectives of sustainable urban planning.
Content
- Issues and philosophy of design/ renovation projects of urban networks.
- Multidisciplinary approach to network planning.
- Impact of the design of networks on public space and urban quality.
- Principles of design, quality criteria and standards, methods of study, planning tools and calculation tools for designing and sizing of urban quality.
-Various illustrations of the theoretical course with examples of real projects.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The objectives of this course are as follows:
- Understanding the issues underlying the development of community networks.
- Promoting integration of networks design/renovation studies from the first design phase of urban projects.
- Exploring new ways of development of urban networks.
- Learning various tools of design, planning and calculation of these networks.

Additional information:
Second semester (from February) : on Wednesday from 14h to 16h from february. The course is given using the flipped classroom method, which alternates courses given by videoconference on one hand and podcasts combined with a list of questions on the other hand. The parts seen on podcasts and the answers to the questions asked about them are discussed interactively during the videoconferences.

The slides accompanying the oral presentation are available in pdf format and sent to students by emails. The podcasts produced for the course are sent to students via MyULiège.
