Learning unit contents
The course Biodiversity of the Animal Kingdom belongs to the Zoology module (9ECTS). This module includes 4 courses, presented along the year as theoretical courses (Th) or laboratory classes (TP) :
§ Course « Animal diversity and evolution » (Th et TP) - 3 ECTS
§ Course « Basic concepts in Zoology » (Th) - 2 ECTS.
§ Course « Animal Behaviour » (Th) - 2 ECTS.
§ Course « Entomology » (Th et TP) - 2 ECTS
The course of Biodiversity of the Animal Kingdom represents 3 ECTS.
The course aims at presenting the morphological, anatomical and ecological diversity in the animal kingdom.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Contribute to providing the student with knowledge on biodiversity of animal Kingdom.
At the end of the course, students should be able to :
- understand the vocabulary associated to the morphology and anatomy of the animal species observed during the course.
- describe and compare the anatomy of the animal species described during the course
- identify and place in the classification all animal and procaryote species present in the list provided
identify, place in the classification, draw and legend the microscopic preparations and dissections seen during the course.

Each course belonging to the integrated module of Zoology will be evaluated during the academic year with a mark out of 20. Scores for the four courses will be weighted within the integrated module of Zoology according to the ECTS allocated for each course.
Four evaluations will occur for the course of Diversity of metazoans one for each section :
2 points out of 20 will be attributed to the evaluations occurring during the laboratory
The 18 points left will be divided as follow :
- 10 points for the written exam
- 4 points for the section concerning the identification of the animal
- 4 points for the section on the identification of the dissections and microscopic observations
The result of the laboratory evaluations is aquiered for all the academic year.
All rules associated to the evluation of this course are presented to the students in the auditorium and are placed on ecampus during the entire academic year.
