Learning unit contents

The course includes face-to-face theory courses, online courses, seminars and field trips.



Ruminant and monogastric livestock farming are described in such a way as to give students the basic concepts they need to understand current production methods. :

- production cycle

- animal performance

- management of slurry and manure

Organic farming and agroforestry will be envisaged.


 

 

 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The objective is to give a general wiew of animal production. The objective is not to form specialists but to provide general information on animal production allowing to the students to understand ways of breeding in our country.  

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

 None

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

 
- lectures for zootechnical basic information
- on field visit with different workshops.  A written report could bes asked.
 - 2 farms visits with cattle and pig production are foreseen.
 - An online multi-modules session available on ecampus could be proposed to prepare the cattel farm visit; each module allows to control the new kwnoledges. In this case, the online session is compulsory and participation will be controlled. The online session must be performed before the visit to the  farm.
Since the participation to all sessions (practices or on field) is compulsory, in case of absence, the students will not be authorized to sit the exam in the first session.
