Learning unit contents
This course is dedicated to the study of action and side effects of drugs and drugs of abuse
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The goal is to show to the students the multidisciplinarity of toxicological sciences.
1. Pharmacokinetic steps, and importance for drug efficiency and therapeutic drug monitoring ;
2. Major drugs side effects, major drug-drug interactions;
3. Panel of drugs of abuse, mechanism of action and discussion of substitution treatments;
3. Belgian and european systems of pharmacovigilancy and toxicovigilancy.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Partim 1 (first semester)
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
12 hours of practical sessions are organized, during 3 weeks,with :
- discussion of drug-drug interactions;
- problem based learning on pharmaco or toxicovigilancy.
Participation is mandatory.
A (written) mandatory test is organized at the end.
Two points are removed from global cotation if result is less than 10/20.
If the student doesn't present the test, he canno't present the exam.
A student with 10/20 will be exempted for 2 years (september and the following year).
