Learning unit contents
This course is only organized on even-numbered years (2020-2021, 2022-2023...)
The objective of the course is to present the great future and present stakes related to change in the public sector, whatever the level of power may be. The main focus will be on Cultural Change, that is, the evolution of management practices, behaviors, beliefs, and world visions that exist within an organization. A large part of the course will be dedicated to the concrete tools that facilitate change, as well as study cases and exchanges of opinions.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Students should have learned how the features of the transformation of public administration are organised, operationalised and experienced in practice, within the administration.
They should also have learned the latest models, approaches, and theories that underlie cultural changes in public organisations.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
No previous skills or knowledge are required beyond what students have learned during the bachelor programme.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Students will learn based on practical case studies, exchanges with students, exercises, games, and illustrative cases drawn from federal and regional Belgian administrations as well as from large international institutions.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
In-person classes. Students are required to attend classes, given the importance of classroom activities in the teaching and evaluation process.
