Learning unit contents
See teaching commitments SDOC0002-A,-B SDOC0002, SDOC0002-C
Module 1 - Research and evaluation of information
The module can be organized into a theoretical part (3h) and a practical part (5h). The theoretical part includes these points:
· Relevant methods for developing a research strategy;
· Using the tools of information retrieval;
· Evaluation of information obtained from the original question. How to create a bibliography relevant to the subject of research.
The practical part would be for the student is a relevant bibliography on the subject of research by following the steps listed above.
Module 2 - Information management
Presentation and use of different tools for reference management information (bibliographic and others). This module could be organized into a theoretical part (3h) and a practical (4 hours). The theoretical part is to present the logic and use of reference management programs (Endnote, Reference Manager,...) and web sites management references (Endnote Web, CiteUlike, ...). The practical part is to develop a database of references from selected references at the end of the module 1.
Module 3 - Presentation of results
This module includes theory and practice. The theoretical part (2 hours) would be to show the different modes of dissemination of scientific information, the various "standards" to present the results and the bibliography and the various tools. The practical (3 hours) would be defined in a form (can be left to the discretion of the student according to the constraints of a PhD) and following the path followed in the three modules, the search results.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Module 1 - Research and evaluation of information
This module would aim to develop a strategy for research information for the creation of a bibliography to start a research scientist in the framework of a doctoral thesis.
Module 2 - Information management
This module aims to provide clues how to handle the information once it was obtained.
Module 3 - Presentation of results
This module would aim to provide patterns of presentation of results by the type of media used.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Module 1 - Research and evaluation of information
Common use of English. Familiarity with the use of bibliographic tools.
Module 2 - Information management
Have completed the module 1 of the course.
Module 3 - Presentation of results
Have completed Module 1 and 2 of the course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Module 1 - Research and evaluation of information
Theoretical in-face. Theoretical part can be performed remotely.
Module 2 - Information management
Theoretical in-face. Practical part can be done remotely.

Face to face.
Recommended or required readings
Module 1 - Research and evaluation of information
The evaluation will be at the end of module 3 of this course.
Module 2 - Information management
At the end of this module a written report containing the steps taken during the practical parts of the module 1 and 2 would be required.
Module 3 - Presentation of results
Presentation in a form chosen by the student but follow this path in the three modules, the search results.
Work placement(s)
Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
Module 1 - Research and evaluation of information
Module 1 should be given at the beginning of the course of doctoral training.
Module 2 - Information management
The second module of the course should be done early in the doctoral program in the wake of the module 1 of the same course.
Module 3 - Presentation of results
The third module can be given later in the course (during the second or third year).
